About the Darwin Ski Club

Established in 1964, the Darwin Ski Club has a long-standing reputation as a family-orientated Ski Club.

Ideally located close to the heart of Darwin and nestled on the shores of the beautiful Fannie Bay, you won’t find a better spot to tackle some water sports and unwind on a lavish grass area with family and friends.

Members and guests can relax in comfort on the water’s edge with a modern bar and restaurant at their disposal. This is the best seat in town any time of the year, where you can experience Darwin’s one-of-a-kind sunsets while enjoying a refreshing beer and delicious meal.

Exciting developments are coming in 2022 to expand the club. New sheds for storage of boats and water sports’ equipment securely will be for lease and continued beautification of the grounds and club facilities – keep up to date by liking the club’s Facebook page.

Darwin’s Community Hub for Water Sports

The Ski Club is the home of the Northern Territory Water Ski Association and a community hub for water sports in the Darwin region.

The association is committed to providing waterskiing and waterboarding opportunities to individuals and groups that span all ages and skill levels.

We invite individuals and families to join our highly experienced team of instructors on the water for an adrenaline-fuelled day of fun in a safe and friendly environment.

Meet the Committee

What makes the Darwin Ski Club so special are the people, members, and staff who contribute to the excellence of the club.

The Committee values the community and promoting an outdoor healthy lifestyle. The Ski Club is all about bringing friends and families together with a naturally beautiful backdrop that can’t be beaten in Darwin.

Paul Winter

President of the NT Water Ski Association

Since being elected in 2020, Paul has been leading the charge to promote the club as the most desirable place to be in Darwin.

Paul endeavours to reach new heights in cultivating a well-established reputation for the club as Darwin’s leading destination for avid water sport enthusiasts, social butterflies and families alike.

As a key driver in the expansion of the club, Paul is responsible for leasing the club’s assets and coordinating major club events.

Mick Henderson

Vice President & President of Darwin Sub Aqua Club

Mick has devoted over 10 years of active involvement with the Ski Club, where he has volunteered, held temporary Licensee for the Ski Club Bar, acted as a committee member, and provided operations support.

As Vice President, Mick facilitates the growth of memberships and activities in the club by connecting with water sport communities, skiers, paddlers, scuba divers and the wider community.

Dorianne Sherry

Secretary of the NT Water Ski Association

As a loyal and regular guest of the Darwin Ski Club since arriving in Darwin in 2015, Dorianne appreciated the continued developments being made to the club.

Dorrianne instantly put her hand up when an opening on the committee was available in 2019. She has since been a valuable member of the committee with managing the club’s administration, meetings, policy, compliance, and distribution of the club newsletter.

Paul Gurr

Treasurer of Darwin Ski Club

Paul has been a strong and influential contributor to the Club since his introduction to the committee in 2015. During his time with the Club, Paul has proven to be a valuable committee member with taking on a number of roles including Treasurer, Public Officer, acting Secretary and Vice President.

As Treasurer, Paul has made tremendous strides in overseeing the Club’s constitutional responsibilities, financial administration and continually advising the Association on financial strategy.

As Public Officer, Paul is also responsible for ensuring the Association is compliant with the Incorporated Associations Act by reporting accurately within given timeframes, as well as adhering to specific regulations.

Additionally, Paul has a proven track record of ensuring the Bar is operating at improved efficiency and is increasingly profitable, by working closely with the Bar Manager and Duty Managers to oversee performance.
With the Committee’s collective mission in mind, Paul continues to pursue projects that help revamp the Club’s profile as a leading watersport centre and place to be for families, social butterflies and tourists alike.

A project Paul is particularly proud of is the Ski Club merchandise range that is available for members to proudly wear and represent the Club.
